Seth Schanher is a lifelong Ohioan and a partner, shareholder, and managing attorney at Dyer, Garofalo, Mann & Schultz, where he serves as a leader in the firm’s most complex and high-stakes cases. As a member of the firm’s Board of Directors, Seth plays an integral role in firm management, strategic planning, and the oversight of major cases that demand advanced legal and organizational experience.
Seth earned his undergraduate degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton School of Law. He has built his career representing individuals, families, and communities harmed by large corporations, financial institutions, and other powerful interests, with a primary focus on cases that are legally complex, resource-intensive, and aggressively contested.
Seth has extensive experience leading and handling large-scale matters, including class actions holding banks and financial institutions accountable for improper and abusive banking practices, class and mass litigation arising from environmental contamination and disaster-related exposure, multidistrict litigation involving some of the largest pharmaceutical cases in the country, and sophisticated product liability claims. He has represented thousands of clients nationwide and has played a significant role in securing hundreds of millions of dollars in recoveries for those harmed by corporate misconduct.
In addition to his class action and MDL work, Seth is deeply experienced in all facets of personal injury litigation and regularly handles catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. He oversees the firm’s probate practice, including complex estate matters and probate-court proceedings required for wrongful death recoveries, and is frequently relied upon to navigate challenging legal, financial, and procedural issues that arise in high-value cases. Seth is also recognized within the firm for his extensive experience resolving complex private and public liens, including Medicare, Medicaid, ERISA, and other third-party claims, a critical component of protecting and maximizing client recoveries.
Seth is licensed to practice law in Ohio and Kentucky and is admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the Ohio Association for Justice, where he works alongside other statewide leaders to advance the rights of injured individuals and promote accountability and fairness in the civil justice system.
Seth has been consistently recognized as an Ohio Super Lawyer every year for the past 14 years. Super Lawyers is a highly selective, peer-driven designation awarded to no more than five percent of attorneys statewide and is based on independent research, peer nominations, and rigorous evaluations of professional achievement and reputation.
Beyond the courtroom, Seth is committed to meaningful community involvement. He serves as a board member and active volunteer with For Love of Children (FLOC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing critical resources, mentorship, and support to underserved and at-risk youth. Through FLOC, Seth tutors students and volunteers his time teaching children how to play guitar, helping to build confidence, creativity, and long-term opportunity.
Outside of his legal practice, Seth enjoys playing electric guitar, staying active, and spending time with his wife, daughter, and their two dogs.
